New Delhi: Riding the metro just got more fun for the four-lakh daily riders in Delhi with C2E’s new in-tunnel advertising. The first ad, by Kotak, is a 15-second film between the Chandni Chowk and Kashmere Gate sections. The technology is an adaptation of the flip book method: the audience moves past 180 panels while the metro moves at speeds up to 60 km per hour. While messages on public transport are not new, this is an innovation that seems to have caught the imagination of corporates.

C2E plans to expand to other metros. Talks with companies operating in sectors such as FMCG, auto, banks and telecom are in the works. The asking price is Rs30 lakh per month. The technology licensed from US-based Submedia is already popular in cities like Atlanta, Chicago, New York City, Hong Kong and Tokyo. In India, C2E now hopes to expand, not only in the number of installations, but the type as well.
