New Delhi: Insurance companies need to improve their underwriting practices, said J. Harinarayan, chairman of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority, or Irda, on Friday while addressing the insurance summit conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham).

Underwriting losses of non-life insurers have escalated in India after removal of tariffs leading to lowering of premium rates.
