On 15 October 1923, Adi B. Hakim, Jal P. Bapasola and Rustom B. Bhumgara from the Bombay Weightlifting Club embarked on the first-ever world tour on bicycles (through Persia, Mesopotamia, Syria, Sinai and other lands). They covered 44,000 miles in three years and three months, braving pirate-infested waters, swamplands, dense jungles and rocky cliffs.
