Mumbai: Google India Pvt. Ltd was rated No. 1 on a list of best companies to work for in the country for the third straight year, followed by Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd, NTPC Ltd, MakeMyTrip India Pvt. Ltd and Forbes Marshall Pvt. Ltd.
HT Media Ltd, the publisher of Mint and Hindustan Times, was ranked 16 in the report, making it the only media company in the top 25 rankings.
“The coverage is across 21 sectors encompassing not only Indian and multinational companies in the private sector, but also public sector and not-for-profit organizations," Great Place to Work said in an emailed statement.
A work environment that’s rated highly by employees leads to customer satisfaction and makes it easier to attract staff, said E. Balaji, chief executive officer of recruitment firm Ma Foi Randstad.
“These rankings help companies to recruit good talent, especially if the company is in a highly competitive industry. Also, for existing employees, it is a morale booster. However, companies need to be consistent and maintain their track record and not be just a one-off case," he said. “Globally, studies suggest that when a company has good employee engagement practices, it naturally translates to satisfied customers, thereby improving the financial performance of the company."

American Express (India) Pvt. Ltd, which was sixth in the overall ranking, top-scored in two special category listings—grievance redressal and workplace fairness, and workplace diversity and inclusion.
