During January-May 2015, 865 deals adding up to a total value of $14.68 billion were announced, according to Grant Thornton India’s Dealtracker report.
In this period last year, 357 deals worth $19.22 billion had been announced. Some of the significant deals announced this year include the merger and internal restructuring of Aditya Birla Group’s retail businesses and Mylan’s acquisition of Famy Care.

Private equity deals have seen a 66% year-on-year increase between January and May 2015.
