UB Group makes key management changes

New Delhi, 3 October In a bid to strengthen the management of its beverage alchohol companies, Vijay Mallya -led The UB Group today announced changes of key positions in Whyte & Mackay, United Spirits and United Breweries.

As a part of the change, Ashwin Malik, who has been with the Group for 19 years has been promoted and named as Chief Executive of Whyte and Mackay Ltd. Malik will relocate to Glasgow, Scotland to manage the largest ever acquisition made by the UB Group.

While, Ashok Capoor has been promoted as Deputy President of United Spirits Ltd. In his new role, he will be in-charge of all five Regional Profit Centres of the Group, a company statement said.

Shekhar Ramamurthy, who has been with the UB Group for 18 years, has been promoted as Deputy President of United Breweries Ltd and would look after operations in addition to overseeing sales and marketing.

Having played a key role in the recent large acquisitions and investments of the Group, Harish Bhat has been promoted to the position of Deputy President and Group Treasurer.

Commenting on the changes, UB Group Chairman Vijay Mallya said, “As the UB Group marches forward from strength to strength, increasing its leadership position in its core businesses and creating extraordinary stakeholder value, I felt it necessary to strengthen the management team going forward in our beverage alcohol companies."

He said the promotions would lead the UB Group’s core beverage alcohol business into the next decade continually improving operating performance and enhance stakeholder value".
