Mumbai: Indian state-run utility NTPC said on Wednesday it had signed a joint venture agreement with state-run Coal India to develop the Brahmini and Chichro Patsimal coal mining blocks in eastern India.

After meeting the coal requirements of NTPC’s projects, the JV may also consider setting up an integrated thermal power plant, NTPC said in a statement.
