Mumbai: Onoine marketplace Snapdeal run by Jasper Infotech Pvt. Ltd has set up a data sciences center in Palo Alto, California. The centre will be headed by Nitin Sharma, senior vice-president, data sciences and has five members from leading companies such as Groupon, Google Inc. and Yahoo. Inc. The centre will focus on big-data and advanced-analytics to define consumer-centric growth strategy.

“We have set up a data science engine in California, which is home to domain talent, to further augment our efforts in creating a superior customer experience and strengthen our supply chain. Snapdeal is extensively working on data mining through an existing analytics team," said Rohit Bansal, co-founder.

The centre will focus on big-data and advanced analytics. The company aims to reach 20 million daily transacting users by year 2020.

“We have a highly accomplished team which can distil key patterns, consumer preferences and hidden correlations by quickly analysing huge quantities of data. We will bring fresh insights to the existing work and will enhance customer experience through better planning and forecasting," said Sharma.

This is in line with the company’s vision to onboard top global talent to help build high-value solutions and develop a high impact growth strategy. Last year, the company’s top Silicon valley hires include Gaurav Gupta as vice president engineering and Anad Chandrasekaran as chief product officer, who quit the company this month.
