R Bandyopadhyay is new MCA secretary
New Delhi: R. Bandyopadhyay on Wednesday took over as the new secretary in the ministry of corporate affairs, or MCA. An Indian Administrative Services officer, he was secretary of department of public enterprises, part of ministry of heavy industries and public enterprises, before this. Bandyopadhyay has also worked in various capacities in other ministries such as planning and programme implementation, power, and commerce and industry.
In another development, Anurag Goel, former MCA secretary, joined the Competition Commission of India (CCI) as a member. As per the Competition Act, the MCA secretary is part of the search and selection panel, and Goel was the MCA secretary then. The panel chose three other members and the chairman, Dhanendra Kumar in March. Supreme Court judge Altamas Kabir, a nominee of the Chief Justice of India, headed the selection committee, which also includes Planning Commission member B.K. Chaturvedi, and chairman of the Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises Nitish Sengupta, besides Goel.
When contacted, Goel said he was not involved in the selection process.
