Microfinance institutions saw both investments and exits by private equity (PE) investors hit an all-time high in calendar year 2016. It is rare for a sector to see the highest investments as well as exits in the same year. In fact, the exit value (actual cash realized) was higher than the investment value (by $27 million), shows data from Venture Intelligence.
