London: Emaar Properties PJSC named Amit Jain as chief executive officer (CEO) of its Dubai business as part of a management shake-up at the emirate’s biggest publicly traded developer.

Jain will also serve as group chief operations officer, the company said on Wednesday in a statement. Emaar has created a customer relationship department to be headed by Khalid Dalil.

Emaar, led by chairman Mohamed Alabbar, has been changing top leadership, with several former executives now working at Abu Dhabi-based developer Eagle Hills, headed by Alabbar, who is a board member. They include Low Ping, Emaar’s former group CEO, and Salman Sajid, previously chief financial officer of several Emaar units.

“Among the key strategic directions defined by the new organizational structure are our concerted efforts to strengthen project management in Dubai,” Alabbar said in the statement.

Noel Madigan will head the project planning and programming department, the company said on Wednesday. Robert Booth, former CEO of Dubai real estate, will continue to advise the chairman, it said. Booth left the job in the second half, people with knowledge of the matter said earlier this month.

Fred Durie, the previous head of Emaar International, said in November that he left the company to head private real estate company Nshama. He will continue to serve on the boards of Emaar’s joint ventures in Jordan and India, according to Emaar.

Emaar, developer of the world’s tallest skyscraper in Dubai, raised $1.58 billion in an initial public offering of its shopping mall unit in September. The company is considering selling shares in its hotels business, Alabbar said in September. Bloomberg
