Dr. Reddy’s allowed to sell generic eszopiclone in US
Eszopiclone tablets are sold under the brand name Lunesta by US drugmaker Sunovion Pharmaceuticals
Hyderabad: Drugmaker Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd on Wednesday said it got approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to sell its version of anti-insomnia drug eszopiclone in the US. Eszopiclone tablets are sold under the brand name Lunesta by US drugmaker Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Lunesta had US sales of around $887 million in the 12 months to January, Dr.Reddy’s said in a statement, quoting US healthcare information provider IMS Health.
Mylan Inc. and Glenmark too have been allowed to launch eszopiclone along with Dr.Reddy’s.
Shares of Dr. Reddy’s fell 1.48% to Rs2,539.35 a unit on BSE on Wednesday, while the benchmark Sensex declined 0.92% to 22,277.23 points.
