The airline, which was launched in January 2015 has seen weak demand for business class seats, leading to a slip in overall flight occupancy.

Mumbai: Business class fares on Vistara will cost up to 30% less, the airline’s owner Tata SIA Airlines Ltd said.

Late last month, Vistara had said it will reduce business class seats and expand its economy space to drive occupancy and revenue.

In a statement on Wednesday, the airline said Delhi-Mumbai business class tickets on Vistara are now available for 15,000, against 21,000 earlier.

A Delhi-Bengaluru business class ticket is available for 14,500 against 18,750 earlier.

“This offer comes with limited seats and booking period. It is available for booking and travel only till 15 April 2016, fees and taxes are extra," the airline said.

On 29 February, Vistara said it will increase the number of seats on its fleet of nine planes from 148 seats to 158.

The current mix of 16 business class, 36 premium economy and 96 economy class seats will be changed to eight business, 24 premium economy and 126 economy seats.

The airline, which was launched in January 2015 has seen weak demand for business class seats, leading to a slip in overall flight occupancy.

On Tuesday, Vistara announced a 25% increase in flights at the start of summer 2016 schedule, including the launch of new services to Jammu, Srinagar and Kochi.

Vistara will now cover 15 cities after increasing its weekly flights from 317 to almost 400.

Vistara is a joint venture between Tata Sons Ltd and Singapore Airlines Ltd (SIA) with Tata Sons holding the majority stake of 51% in the company and SIA holding the remaining 49%.

Another full service airline Jet Airways (India) Ltd also joined the bandwagon by discounting its business class fares.

Jet Airways said it is offering discounts up to 40% on base fare in its business class seats within India.

Jet Airways said tickets must be purchased on or before 17 April.
