Mumbai: Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd’s tractor sales rose 24% to 23,626 units in May from the year ago, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday. Of these 1,155 tractors were exported, up 16% from last year.

“The prospect of a good monsoon would also add buoyancy to the farmers’ morale and lead to a stronger growth for the overall agricultural sector," said Rajesh Jejurikar, chief executive, farm equipment sector, at Mahindra and Mahindra.

Domestic sales fell 1.7% to 46,107 tractors in the three months to March from 48,517 tractors in the year ago. Its market share during the quarter was 37.2%.
