Mumbai: The board of directors of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has put up a proposal to appoint Nita Ambani, wife of RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani, as director on the board of RIL, according to a company statement on Friday.

The company said her nomination is being proposed in place of Ramnik H. Ambani, who will be retiring shortly.

RIL will seek an approval for the appointment from its shareholdes at its 40th annual general meeting on 18 June.

Currently, Nita Ambani is the chairperson of Reliance Foundation, the company’s entity for corporate social responsibility initiatives.
