Bangalore: Mid-tier software services firm Mindtree Ltd. has appointed former Infosys Ltd. executive Paul Gottsegen as its new marketing and strategy head, months after the company embarked on a strategic overhaul with management consulting firm Bain and Co.

Gottsegen replaces George Zacharias, who will now lead the strategic initiatives and mergers and acquisitions team at Mindtree along with chief executive and co-founder Krishnakumar Natarajan.

Gottsegen, who will lead marketing, strategy and alliances as a senior vice-president at the Bangalore-based firm, will report directly to Natarajan and be part of the company’s senior leadership team.

“Paul’s appointment comes at an exciting time as marketing will play a key role in our next stage of growth," said Natarajan in a statement.

In July, Mindtree moved to a different organizational structure as part of its new strategy defined by Bain, collapsing two key positions—CEO of the information technology business and CEO of the products and engineering business—and dividing the company into four key business segments that report directly to Natarajan.

Gottsegen joins Mindtree from much larger Bangalore-based rival Infosys, where he served as chief marketing officer before he left on Monday. He has also previously worked for Hewlett-Packard Co., Dell Inc. and Compaq Computer Corp.
