L&T will mobilize 25,000 workmen and 600 employees for the project that will be executed over 30 months
Mumbai: Larsen and Toubro Ltd’s (L&T) hydrocarbon unit has got an order worth more than ₹ 1,000 crore to build a paraxylene plant for a leading refinery in India.
The company signed an agreement to execute civil, mechanical, erection and installation work for the project, L&T said in a statement on Tuesday.
Paraxylene is used primarily as a feedstock for the manufacture of purified terephthalic acid, which is an important chemical in the production of fibre and plastic bottles.
L&T will mobilize about 25,000 workmen and 600 employees for the project that will be executed over a period of 30 months.
“The margins of this order are very much comparable to our other domestic projects. Now, we would be focusing on projects from Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd as there are no new projects coming from fertilizer sector owing to non-clarity in gas policy," said K. Venkataramanan, chief executive and managing director of L&T.
He did not disclose the name of the client.
