Target India completes third batch of start-up accelerator programme
Start-ups which underwent the accelerator programme include Findmeashoe.com, BugClipper, TimeFlex, House of Blue Beans, Discover Dollar analytics
Bengaluru: Target Corporation India on Thursday announced the completion of the third batch of the Target accelerator programme, through which it mentors start-ups in retail-aligned sectors at its Bengaluru office.
The start-ups include Findmeashoe.com (EMBL Shopping Services India Pvt. Ltd), which enables consumers to find shoes that fit them by using a mobile app; BugClipper (Inkspot Technologies LLP), which has a bug-tracking solution for the testing phase of quality assurance; TimeFlex, an Internet-of-things solution for retail stores that monitors the micro-environment; House of Blue Beans (House of Blue Beans Interactive Media Pvt. Ltd), a 3D product visualization software firm; and Discover Dollar Pvt. Ltd, which tracks where companies are losing money and provides a dashboard for real-time analytics.
Unlike other accelerator programmes, Target’s is specific and curated, and this curation is what’s working for it, said Navneet Kapoor, president and managing director, Target India.
“We imagine easily working with several of them. The programme has ended but the engagement will continue. (After the third batch) we are a lot clearer about what works. We were earlier looking for companies that were aligned with our road map but now its a broader spectrum from IoT to testing, but we have real problems for them to attack. We’ve also learnt what it takes to move the needle within our large complex business environment. We’re able to guide them faster and upfront so that we get faster output for them," he added.
Target has also just announced a partnership with United States-based Techstars to boost innovation within the company.
