Somasundaram PR appointed as new MD of WGC India
Somasundaram will be responsible for leading the WGC’s activities across the Indian market
Mumbai: World Gold Council, the market development organisation for the gold industry, on Wednesday said it has appointed Somasundaram PR as managing director, India.
Somasundaram will be based in Mumbai, where he will be responsible for leading the World Gold Council’s activities across the Indian market, WGC said in a statement in Mumbai.
He has over 27 years’ experience of diverse industries and sectors. Somasundaram joins the World Gold Council from Lakshmi Vilas Bank, where he was chief executive officer.
Commenting on the appointment, Aram Shishmanian, chief executive officer, World Gold Council said, “India is one of the most important gold markets in the world and this is a critical appointment as we seek to further develop new markets and strong partnerships."
The release said Somasundaram’s appointment as managing director for India was effective from 1 January 2013.
