Bengaluru: TalkingThreads.in, which is attempting to create an online-only luxury apparel brand for women, is launching its site formally and aims to increase its customer base by three times this year.
Talking Threads, promoted by Fabulous Threads Pvt Ltd, sources traditional Indian fabrics and offers ethnic wear and contemporary wear products such as tops, tunics, jackets, kurtas, suits and sarees.
Talking Threads was founded last year by former Fashionandyou.com chief executive officer (CEO) Pearl Uppal and Kulbir Uppal.
The company, which is funded by CEO Uppal’s seed investment firm 5ideas Startup Superfuel, is aiming to get more than 10,000 customers this year, from roughly 3,000 currently.
“We’ve been in pilot for more than a year and now we have built strong enough unit economics to do a formal launch. We will be nearly doubling our employee strength to 50 this year and improving our distribution reach,” Uppal said.
Talking Threads has roughly 3,000 clients across 39 countries including India and US. The company’s average order size is roughly ₹ 18,000 while the average order value of its Pashmina line is 80,000.
Uppal said 5ideas Startup will continue to finance Talking Threads for the next year and the company is not looking to raise fresh funds currently.
5ideas Startup also holds large stakes in start-ups such as Kartrocket.com, Roposo.com and Dataweave.in.
