New Delhi: iQor Global Services, a business process outsourcing and product support services provider, on Tuesday said it plans to invest $200 million in India to expand its operations in the country.
The Florida-based firm, which counts Apple Inc. and Bharti Airtel Ltd among its customers, entered India nine years ago and has been building a network of service centres spanning metro cities and state capitals since then.
“We see a huge opportunity in the country. Make in India is creating a manufacturing ecosystem in the country and we are a part of it," said Hartmut Liebel, iQor’s CEO.
“India is witnessing an increasing number of manufacturing companies including smartphone makers setting shops," he said. “We are right behind them."
iQor, which provides aftersales services for consumer electronics products, at present has a presence in 82 cities across 17 states in India and handles on average about 50,000 calls monthly. The company, which is growing at 30-40% year on year in India, expects to increase its footprint to 115 locations in 109 cities and 22 states by 2015-end. “Our aim is to be in 300 cities over the next three years," said Liebel.
India is the world’s fastest-growing major economy and is projected to be the second largest smartphone market by 2016.
“With infrastructure and staff already in place throughout the country, iQor is perfectly positioned to meet India’s increasing demands for skilled, immediate product support," he said.
The firm also expect to create 20,000 new jobs across India. Part of the growth will come from the opening of two new repair depot hubs in Chennai and Hyderabad as well as new walk-in service centres along with on-site services for global manufacturers of smartphones, tablets, desktop computers, notebooks, digital players and consumer products.
“All our global and domestic clients are expanding massively in India," says Sanjay Vidyarthi, managing director-India. “They are all looking for one or two partners to deliver quality services across the country. With our exceptional end-to-end in-country capabilities, we intend to become their partner of choice.
