Mumbai: Skill development company Edsix Brain Lab Pvt. Ltd said on Monday that it has raised an undisclosed amount from a group of angel investors.

The round was led by Sprout Angels LLP with participation from other angel investors. Edsix raised a seed round and was incubated at IIM Ahmedabad’s technology business incubator—Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE).

Chennai-based Edsix, founded in 2013 by Kalpana Murthy, Saravanan Sundaramoorthy and Parimala Vageesan, is looking to use the funds to expand its services in the B2C segment and strengthening the technology platform enhancements for B2B integration.

“Market size estimates for game-based learning industry globally is around $2-3 billion in 2015 and projected to grow to $8-9 billion by 2017. We see huge potential for educational games in India with a market size of around a $1-1.5 billion market in next couple of years. We find the product developed by EdSix Lab has global potential," said Abhaya Kumar, chief advisor with Sprout Angels.

The company provides skill assessment and enhancement solutions for K-12 students and help in strengthening cognitive skills essential for critical thinking, learning agility, increased attention span and more. The company has a team of educational experts, clinical psychologists and developmental paediatricians that help in designing over 500 audio-visual games. These games aim to provide students with self-paced learning, controlled gaming and supports skill development in a fun-filled way.
