Chennai: Colin Macdonald will be managing director of Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt. Ltd from 1 April. He will be responsible for operations at the Renault-Nissan factory at Oragadam near Chennai.
The factory can produce 480,000 cars a year and exports to more than 10 countries and regions, making Nissan the third-biggest exporter of cars from India. Renault-Nissan employs more than 15,000 people in India, the company said in a statement.
Macdonald began his career at Nissan in the Sunderland plant in the UK in 1991 and has been deputy managing director of Renault Nissan Automotive India since January last year.
Outgoing managing director Toshihiko Sano will take up a new position as senior vice president of Nissan’s key supplier, Calsonic Kansei, in Japan.
