Energy | More uranium sought to help beat shortage
Mumbai: India is seeking additional uranium from Russia and France’s Areva SA to help fire 60,000MW of nuclear power capacity it plans to build over the next two decades to help beat shortages. The nation’s domestic uranium supplies can fuel 10,000MW, Anil Kakodkar, chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, told reporters in Mumbai on Friday. India also plans to buy stakes in uranium mines overseas.
