Mahindra Ssangyong sales up 25%
Ssangyong Motor sells 12,730 vehicles in May; cumulative sales from January rise 21%
Mumbai:
Mahindra Group-owned Ssangyong Motor sold 12,730 vehicles in May, up 25.3% over the last year, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Of this, South Korea contributed 5,270 units, while the remaining 7,460 were exported.
Cumulative sales from January rose 21.4% from a year earlier. The company attributed the continuing sales momentum to the refreshed Korando models.
Ssangyong resumed second-shift production at its plant in South Korea in the middle of May, which will help it reduce the order backlog and increase sales, the company said.
Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd acquired the Korean auto maker in March 2011.
