RIL selects Fluor Corp for project management services

Mumbai: Oil-to-yarn and retail conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) said on Thursday that it has selected US-based firm Fluor Corp. to provide project management services for the expansion of its refining and petrochemical complex at Jamnagar, Gujarat.
RIL told analysts at a meeting on 20 April, after announcing its March quarter earnings, that it would invest around $12 billion to enhance its polyester production capacity, set up a petrochemical unit that would use waste gas from refining operations, and another unit that will convert petroleum coke to synthetic gas to fuel its refining operations.
“The investment in the expansion of energy and petrochemicals projects represents one of the largest such investments globally," RIL said. “The proposed coke gasification facility is also among the largest such projects ever built."
