New Delhi: Japanese auto maker Honda Motor Co. on Tuesday said that it had appointed Yoichiro Ueno as the new president and chief executive of its car operations in India.
Ueno will replace Katsushi Inoue on 1 April, the company said in a statement. Inoue has been named operating officer of Honda Motor and chief operating officer for regional operations (Europe region).
Typically, Honda appoints a chief executive for a three-year term. Inoue joined Honda Cars India Ltd in April 2015.
During April-January, sales of Honda cars grew 8.13% to 161,000 units while the overall passenger vehicle industry also grew at the same pace to 2.29 million units. However, Honda’s pace of growth slowed from 2014-15 when its sales had risen 40.74% to 189,000 units.
