Mumbai: Tilaknagar Industries Ltd, India’s fourth largest distiller,has appointed Vijay K. Rekhi as chairman of the board of advisers with effect from 1 May, the company said on Friday.
Rekhi was once president and managing director of Vijay Mallya-promoted United Spirits Ltd and associated with the UB Group for over 40 years.
“The objective of the advisory council is to extend strategic and operational advice for further accelerating the huge growth impetus for the company,” said Amit Dahanukar, chairman and managing director, Tilaknagar Industries.
The company has also announced the appointment of Ratneshwar Prasad as a member of its board of advisers.
Prasad comes with 43 years of career in taxation, law, competition and international taxation and had served as chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes.
On 21 April Mint reported that Kishore Chhabria-owned Allied Blenders and Distillers Pvt. Ltd (ABD) is looking to buy Tilaknagar Industries. Tilaknagar is reluctant to be acquired by Allied.
