Tata Steel starts acquiring lands for titanium-dioxide project

Madurai: Tata Steel has started acquiring lands for their proposed titanium-dioxide project at Sattankulam and Tiruchendur taluks in Tuticorin district, a top official said today.

Tuticorin district collector R Palaniandi said in a press release that the company had obtained copies of documents relating to 100 acres from patta holders and signed agreements for acquiring 10 acres of land.

Tata Steel has set a target of procuring 1,000 acres by the end of this year to start setting up the desalination plant and factory, he added.
