Bengaluru: Lifestyle International Pvt. Ltd, part of Dubai based Landmark Group, has appointed Jacob John, ex-head of Louis Philippe, as deputy chief executive.

John will join the company in the first week of September and report to Kabir Lumba, managing director at Lifestyle International, the company said in a press statement issued on Wednesday.

To be sure, the position did not exist in the company as Lumba has been handling business for both the group’s departmental store chain Lifestyle and home furnishings chain Home Centre.

The new role, according to a person familiar with the matter, is an indication of Lumba’s elevation as head of Landmark Group in India, which is currently managed by multiple business heads.

Landmark runs various brands in India such as MAX, Splash and SPAR. While value fashion retailer Max is headed by Vasanth Kumar, apparel brand Splash is headed by Kalyan Kumar. Dutch supermarket chain SPAR runs as a separate business unit.

For the financial year 2014-15, the Dubai-based retailer clocked a turnover of 4,600 crore from its 44 Lifestyle stores, 20 Home Centres and 120 Max stores.
