New Delhi: Online and mobile value added services lobby the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) on Tuesday appointed FreeCharge co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) Kunal Shah as its chairman.
The move was necessitated following Nishant Rao’s move to join Freshdesk as the global chief operating officer from LinkedIn, IAMAI said in a statement.
Shah co-founded FreeCharge in August 2010. In April last year, FreeCharge was acquired by e-commerce firm Snapdeal (Jasper Infotech Pvt. Ltd).
After the acquisition, FreeCharge continues to be an independent entity under Shah’s leadership. IAMAI has appointed Vishwas Patel, CEO of online payment services provider CCAvenue, as its new treasurer.
Vinodh Bhat, co-founder, president and chief strategy officer at internet radio provider Saavn, will continue as the vice-chairman of IAMAI.
Established in 2004, IAMAI comprises mobile content and services, online publishing, mobile and online advertising, e-commerce and digital payments players. Its members include names such as Google, Facebook, Hungama and Flipkart. PTI
