HT Burda Media wins 16 mn euros printing contract
New Delhi: HT Burda Media Ltd (HTB)—the 51:49 joint venture between HT Media Ltd and Germany’s Hubert Burda Media—has won its first major international printing contract from French company Outiror.
The €16 million (about Rs100 crore) contract is one of the largest single printing contracts in recent times.
As per the contract, HTB would be the exclusive printing partner for Outiror for the next two years and will print 100 million catalogues every year for the company’s three brands—Direct Delta, Outiror and Oye Oye—at its newly commissioned rotogravure printing presses at Greater Noida. Outiror is the market leader in France for “market on wheels" retail selling.
HTB won the contract despite competitive pitching by printers from Italy, France and Germany. HTB will print 20 different types of catalogues for Outiror.
“It is very satisfying to know that HTB has been selected as the printing partner for Outiror in India," said B.S. Shesh, business head of HTB.
“This is also the first order for a rotogravure printing facility in India to print high-end catalogues and reinforces the joint venture that brings in HT Media’s world class expertise in printing and publishing," he said.
Rotogravure presses have the capability to print at high speeds premium quality variants such as catalogues, books, annual reports, journals and other outputs of virtually any size.
HTB is also in an advanced stage of negotiations with two large international retail brands for annual printing of 12 million catalogues.
HT Media is the publisher of the ‘Hindustan Times’ and Mint.
