New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said on Saturday that it has registered two regular cases (first information reports, or FIRs) against two non-Saradha group companies, but those allegedly involved in the multi-crore chit-fund scam.
The two companies against which cases have been registered are MPS Greenery and Akashdeep Projects Ltd, a CBI official said.
“Cases have been registered against MD (managing director) and directors of these companies on the allegation of criminal breach of trust, cheating, criminal conspiracy and abetment... These are the first set of FIRs against companies other than Saradha group in West Bengal,” the official added.
The tally for FIRs in chit fund scam has increased to 50 with 6 cases in West Bengal and 44 cases against as many companies in Odisha.
The Supreme Court had handed over the Saradha chit fund scam probe to CBI and asked the state governments to provide all logistical help to the agency’s team investigating the matter.
