New Delhi: Online travel search portal ixigo said on Wednesday that it has acquired the team of mobile content-sharing application Reach for an undisclosed amount.
“As part of the deal, the Reach team will join ixigo to help enhance ixigo’s already existing products by providing travellers not just utility, but consumable content and entertainment in the travel space,” said the company in a statement.
Launched in 2015 by Abhay Pruthi, Akshay Pruthi, Ashish Kumar and Ayush Verma, Reach is a mobile app for users to browse and download music, games and other content directly from their friends’ mobile devices. In 2016, the company had raised close to $500,000 from Rebright Partners along with a few angel investors including Ankur Warikoo, Ankur Singla and Sudhir Anandarao.
Gurgraon-based Le Travenues Technology Pvt. Ltd, which owns and operates ixigo, will have Reach’s team work on personalised content and travel recommendations.
“By on-boarding the Reach team we are taking our vision of empowering every Indian traveller with trustworthy and personalised travel recommendations a step further…With their (Reach’s) technology prowess and innovative thinking, together we expect to churn out a lot of smart offerings for our users,” said ixigo’s co-founder Aloke Bajpai in a statement.
