Hyderabad: Drug maker Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd on Thursday promoted Alok Sonig as executive vice-president and head of the North America generic business.
Sonig, who has been heading the India generics business, replaces Umang Vohra, who has stepped down, the company said in a statement.. Sonig played significant role in expanding the domestic business of Dr. Reddy’s and the acquisition of a select portfolio of Belgium-based UCB SA products in India for Rs.800 crore.
India contributes about Rs.1,787 crore, or 15%, of Dr.Reddy’s generic sales.
North America contributed about 54% of Dr.Reddy’s global generic sales of Rs.12,055.6 crore in the year ended 31 March.
MV Ramana, currently executive vice president-emerging markets, has assumed additional charge and head of India business at Dr. Reddy’s.
