Hyderabad: Telstra Health, the eHealth unit of Australia’s biggest telecommunications company, Telstra Corp. Ltd, said it has acquired the business of India-based healthcare software developer, IdeaObject Software Pvt. Ltd

The deal terms were not disclosed.

IdeaObject, founded in 2008, builds enterprise-level software for hospitals. Its solution, HealthObject, has been deployed in about 250 hospitals and clinics in India, Thailand, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. It employs 50 people at its development centre in Chennai.

The businesses of IdeaObject and Cloud9 (C9), an Australia-based eHealth cloud software developer that had also been acquired by Telstra Health, will be immediately integrated into the parent’s platform, a statement said. The integration process will be completed in 100 days, a spokesperson said.

“The acquisition of both C9 and IdeaObject helps to strengthen our next generation Hospital Information System offerings to our healthcare customers whilst building on a strong Asian footprint," Jim Flynt, a Telstra executive who has been promoted as chief executive officer of Cloud9, said in the statement.

IdeaObject’s executive management team headed by chief executive Seetharam Malur will be responsible for everyday operations and product development while its cloud-based hospital information system is integrated into Telstra Health.

“Aside from the world-class technology that these solutions offer on their own, we see real value from the people behind them and are delighted that all staff will be transferring across to Telstra Health and continue to bring innovation and eHealth solutions to the healthcare system," Flynt added.

Telstra Health was launched in October with the aim of becoming a leading provider of integrated eHealth solutions. It has software solutions for hospital, pharmacy, general practice and specialist doctors, radiology and pathology, aged and residential care and tele-medicine.
