ANZ appoints Sanjeev Bajaj as new India CEO

Bajaj will take over as CEO in February, subject to regulatory approvals, ANZ said

Mumbai: Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ) on Friday appointed former Credit Suisse Group AG executive Sanjeev Bajaj as chief executive officer (CEO) for India.

Bajaj will take over from current CEO Subhas DeGamia, who has been promoted as executive director, super regional business development, for international banking based in Sydney.

Bajaj will take over as CEO in February, subject to regulatory approvals, ANZ said.

Bajaj will report to ANZ international banking CEO Farhan Faruqui.

Bajaj was India CEO of Credit Suisse since 2010 and also head of fixed income, India. Prior to Credit Suisse, Bajaj was managing director and head of fixed income and international businesses at JM Financial Ltd, a financial services firm.

ANZ has one branch in Mumbai and got permits to start two more earlier this year, one near Bangalore and the other in Gurgaon on the outskirts of Delhi.
