CabsGuru and BookEventz see new funding rounds

CabsGuru raises funds from clutch of investors

CabsGuru (Nohup Technologies Pvt. Ltd), a cab search, comparison and booking platform, raised an undisclosed amount in angel funding led by Prashanth Ranganathan, founder and chief executive of Paysense and former head of product, APAC, PayPal. The funds will be used to strengthen its product base. The company is also building a cross-vertical data gathering and analytics engine to predict road travel preference of users. Founded in 2014 by Vikash Singh and Pulkit Ahuja, Cabsguru has operations in 75 cities with a third party app which allows for single search for multiple cab providers like Ola, Meru, MegaCabs and TaxiForSure among others.

BookEventz raises funds from Zishaan Hayath, others

Urban Online Services Pvt. Ltd-run BookEventz (previously Urbanrestro.com), an end-to-end service provider for event planning requirements, raised an undisclosed round of seed funding led by Mumbai Angels with the participation from Singapore Angel Network and Zishaan Hayath. The funding will be used to strengthen technology back-end and push its marketing campaign for the portal.

Founded in 2012 as Urbanrestro by Shriti Chhajed and Harsh Baid, Bookeventz currently has over 2000 Vendors listed with it in 11 cities. The website served 2,000 customers in Nov 2015 and over 100 bookings made with a gross merchandise value of over Rs.1 crore, the company said in a statement. By July 2016, the company aims to serve monthly 20,000 customers bookings.
