Alstom India changes name to GE Power India

New Delhi: Alstom India has been renamed as GE Power India following its acquisition by US giant General Electric.
“The name of the Company has changed from ALSTOM India Limited to GE PowerIndia Limited with effect from August 5, 2016," the company said in a BSE filing on Friday.
Earlier last month, the company received shareholders’ approval for changing the name of the company to GE Power India after the firm was taken over by US giant General Electric.
Earlier this year, the US-based energy and healthcare giant GE had made an open offer following its $16.9 billion bid to acquire the global energy assets of French multinational Alstom. Alstom had two listed entities in India with business interests in power generation and transportation (Alstom India) and transmission and distribution sector (Alstom T&D).
