Chennai: The board of electrical equipment maker Havells India Ltd has appointed Anil Rai Gupta as chairman and managing director of the company.
The appointment of Anil Rai Gupta, who was serving as the joint managing director, comes after the demise of founder-chairman Qimat Rai Gupta last week.
“QRG’s passing is a sad and difficult time for all of us. Today, Havells reflects on his extraordinary life and commitment to people, employees, industry and well-being of the society”, Anil Rai Gupta said in a statement.
“Our values originated from him and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Havells. We share the great privilege and responsibility of carrying his legacy into the future”, Gupta said.
“QRG was an extraordinary entrepreneur who worked hard to take Havells to amazing heights and made it a true India based multinational and a major force to reckon with”, the board said.
Seventy seven-year-old Qimat Rai Gupta started Havells and transformed it to a multinational with operations across 51 countries and was known for entrepreneurial spirit.
