Mumbai: Jaguar Land Rover India Pvt. Ltd will be assembling the Range Rover Evoque at its Pune facility, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The move it said will support sales growth in India. This will be the fourth vehicle to be assembled at the plant joining the Freelander 2, Jaguar XF and XJ.
The local assembly, said Rohit Suri, president of Jaguar Land Rover India, will help price the model more competitively starting at ₹ 48.73 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai (Pre-Octroi) The Range Rover Evoque will be available in a 2.2 Litre SD4 Diesel engine, delivering a maximum power output of 140 kW @ 3,500 rpm and maximum torque of 420 Nm @ 2,000 rpm. Production at company’s Pune plant has tripled since its inauguration in 2011. The strategy of adding to the line up of locally produced models is part of Jaguar Land Rover’s plans to expand its manufacturing footprint globally and increasing its production capacity outside the UK.
