Mumbai: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) said fiscal fourth-quarter profit declined 52% because of lower sales and other income.

Net profit fell to 888.35 crore in the quarter ended 31 March from 1,844.59 crore a year ago. Net sales fell 15.8% to 12,368.43 crore from a year earlier. Analysts had expected the company to post a profit of 802 crore on net sales of 12,200 crore, according to a Bloomberg survey.

Other income for the quarter stood at 16.02 crore, down 94.5% from a year ago period.

Shares of Bhel rose 2.88% to 241 apiece on BSE, while the exchange’s benchmark Sensex fell 0.41% to 27,531.41 points.
