South Asia FM Ltd, a subsidiary of Sun TV Network Ltd, had bid for five channels and has been given clearance by the I&B ministry
New Delhi: The Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry has given permission to a company related to the Sun TV Network Ltd to operate five channels that they had won in e-auction in the first batch of Private FM Phase III expansion last year.
It is learnt that South Asia FM Ltd, which is a subsidiary of Sun TV Network Ltd, had bid for five channels and has been given clearance by the I&B ministry.
Earlier, as the Ministry of Home Affairs had not provided the mandatory security clearance to the company, the permissions had been held up. Red FM chief operating officer (COO) Nisha Narayanan confirmed the development and said that permissions have been granted by the ministry for five radio channels, which will now come up in Chandigarh, Patna, Amritsar, Surat and Jammu.
