Manipal Health Enterprises names Swaminathan Dandapani as chairman
Dandapani, a former chief executive at Infosys, replaces Ramdas Pai as Manipal Health’s executive chairman
Bangalore: Manipal Health Enterprises said it named Swaminathan Dandapani, a former chief executive at Infosys Ltd’s BPO unit, as its executive chairman. Dandapani replaces Ramdas Pai, part of the promoter family that controls the Manipal group.
Dandapani’s appointment was effective from 2 May, the company said in a statement. Swaminathan retired as the CEO of Infosys’s BPO operations in April.
The promoters of Manipal Education and Medical Group International India Pvt. Ltd, which runs the Manipal University and Manipal Hospitals, borrowed $260 million to buy back the stake held by IDFC Private Equity (IDFC PE) and Capital International Private Equity Funds in the company, Mint reported last month. The PE firms invested $70 million in the Manipal Education in 2006 for a 12% stake.
