One of the primary tasks before Seth is reclaiming the company's lost market share in the beer segment
Why: Seth has been appointed managing director at the beer maker and will take charge on 1 January.
Experience: Seth joined SABMiller India in 2003 and has worked in departments such as sales, manufacturing and projects. In his last role, he was director of sales.
In the past, he has worked with cigarette maker ITC Ltd for more than eight years.
Seth holds an MBA from INSEAD France and a mechanical engineering degree from BITS Pilani. He has also completed a general management development programme from the Wharton Business School, US.
Challenge: One of the primary tasks before Seth is reclaiming the company’s lost market share in the beer segment. New entrants such as Tuborg and Carlsberg offer stiff competition to SABMiller’s brands.
SABMiller will have to introduce additional brands catering to local preferences, like other spirit makers who are increasingly focusing on the domestic market. The company also needs to introduce brands in the light beer segment, which offers bigger opportunities.
