Mumbai: London-based Ping Pong Group, which runs a restaurant chain that specializes in dim sum, is set to enter India. Mumbai-based Mirah Hospitality will open the first Ping Pong outlet in December at the Bandra-Kurla complex (BKC) in Mumbai.
Established in 2005, Ping Pong operates 13 restaurants across London, Sao Paulo, Dubai and Washington DC.
Gaurav Goenka, 30, director of Mirah Group, said his company will be the franchisee in India for Ping Pong Group.
“We are planning to start the first Ping Pong food store in Mumbai in the next six months,” Goenka said. “We will be opening 15-16 stores in the first phase with an estimated investment of 60-70 crore.”
Goenka’s company is a franchisee for Manchester United Café Bar and Restaurant and runs outlets named after the football club in the UK.
The Asian market was the next step in Ping Pong’s growth after its initial expansion in the Americas, Europe and West Asia, said Ping Pong managing partner Daniel During.
