Apollo Hospitals signs deal with Ghana on health services

Apollo Hospitals will advise the government of Ghana in revamping its healthcare system

Hyderabad: Apollo Hospitals Group has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ministry of health, Republic of Ghana, for developing tertiary health care services in the African country, the company said on Monday.

The agreement was signed by Victor Asare Bampoe, deputy health minister, Ghana, and Hari Prasad, CEO, Central Region, Apollo Hospitals, a press release from Apollo said.

Apollo Hospitals with its enormous domain expertise in addressing the healthcare needs of the third world countries, will advise the government of Ghana in revamping its healthcare system, it said.

It will also help in laying the foundation for strong and comprehensive tertiary care services, which is self sustainable and addresses the needs of the local populace, it added. The medical fraternity in Ghana was thoroughly impressed with the professional care Apollo Group is rendering and its suitability to their needs.

The health ministry officials of Ghana are keen to put this alliance on a fast track, Hari Prasad said. “A viable and self-sustainable healthcare model for Ghana is best represented by the services offered by Apollo Hospitals Group in India. The highest standard of professional excellence and affordable care epitomised by this model is replicable to suit our needs. This agreement we believe will usher in quality care for our nationals," Bampoe, said.

As per the agreement, Apollo will provide high-end tertiary healthcare services to patients referred by the ministry of health, government of Ghana, at Apollo Hospitals in India while Apollo consultants will conduct Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Neurosurgery and Paediatric Specialty clinics in Ghana, among other services.
