Times Group to launch IGN and AskMen in India
Both websites will be brought to the Indian market through a partnership with the digital media company Ziff Davis
New Delhi: Times Internet, the online arm of the Times Group, will bring to India two international digital brands, IGN.com and AskMen.com, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
Both websites will be brought to the Indian market through a partnership that Times Internet has entered into with the digital media company Ziff Davis Inc.
IGN, or Imagine Games Network, is a website dedicated to gaming and popular culture. IGN.com reaches 50 million unique users worldwide every month, Times Internet said.
The other website that is being brought to the Indian market through the deal is AskMen.com. The men’s lifestyle website attracts over 16 million unique users every month, according to the same statement.
In an emailed response to Mint, a Times Internet spokesperson said the content being produced on these websites will be a mix of global and local. The latter will be produced by local editorial teams.
The partnership is part of the Times Local Partners Group—an initiative by Times Internet to partner with global digital companies. Other examples of such partnerships include Indian editions of Gizmodo, Lifehacker and Business Insider. Times Group and HT Media, which owns Mint, compete in some markets.
