Saroj Datta’s term ends at Jet Airways

Mumbai: Saroj Datta, credited with helping to build Jet Airways (India) Ltd into India’s biggest airline by passengers carried, has left the carrier after about two decades.

His tenure as executive director and board member of Jet Airways ended on 30 September, the carrier said in a media release.

Datta “was a key member of the core team of Jet Airways, and had... a pivotal role... in laying the foundation of Jet Airways in the early 1990s,’’ the statement said.

He also played a crucial role in Jet’s acquisition of Sahara Airlines (now JetLite Ltd) in 2007.
