Mumbai: The Chernin Group Llc, a US-based media holding company, on Monday said it had elevated Rajesh Kamat as group—chief operating officer of its Asian investment arm CA Media.

Kamat, credited with launching CA Media in India in 2011, will relocate to Singapore and report to Paul Aiello, CA Media’s Hong Kong-based chief executive, Chernin Group said in a statement. He will continue to oversee the Indian operations.

“As we move into our next phase of growth, it is critical to have a structure that supports our operations and continued expansion plans in Asia," Peter Chernin, chairman of Chernin Group, said in the statement. “Rajesh’s new expanded role in the region will help the group achieve this objective."

In the past three years, CA Media has built a strong portfolio of investments in the Indian media and entertainment space, including television and film production, live music events, youth media, digital content, intellectual property and graphic novels.

Its investments in the country include stakes in content company Endemol India, music and live events company Only Much Louder, and entertainment company Graphic India.
